The Medical Center of Plano volunteers are respected members of the health care team.  Whether they are escorting patients to their destination, providing clerical assistance or serving as a family liaison in the emergency room, their support is an essential ingredient in delivering the highest quality health care available in Collin County.  We invite you to join our diverse team of energetic, dedicated and compassionate volunteers.

Volunteers typically work a regularly scheduled 4-hour daytime shift once a week (Monday - Friday).  Evening and late afternoon assignments are available on a limited basis in specific assignment areas.  All volunteers are required to attend a hospital orientation class, undergo a criminal background check, have an annual T.B. test and purchase one of several available uniform options.

Application Process

Adults may apply by completing the volunteer application and returning to TMCP for processing at The Medical Center of Plano, Volunteer Services, 3901 West 15th Street, Plano, TX 75075. After your application has been processed, you will be invited to a Volunteer Services Introductory Meeting to learn about specific assignment openings.

2012 Summer Junior Volunteer Program (High School and College Applicants)

Student volunteers must be at least 16 years of age to apply. All applicants (both teen and college) MUST be available for a minimum of 4 consecutive weeks during the summer break. We will offer two Summer Junior Volunteer Program sessions. Session one is June 11-July 6.  Session two is July 9- August 3.  You may only volunteer for ONE of the sessions. We will begin accepting 2012 Summer Junior Volunteer Program applications on March 5th, 2012 with a deadline to submit applications by March 30th, 2012.  If you are mailing your application in, it must be postmarked no later than March 30th.  Instructions on how to submit your application are listed on this webpage. You may mail, fax or submit your application in person. The Summer Junior Volunteer Program at The Medical Center of Plano is highly competitive and positions are limited.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact shannon.buckner@hcahealthcare.com.
